same old piece, new puzzle / my kingdom and your kingdom and the 5 years wide distance between the ruins/between us.
melody so kindly transcribed for me months ago by. multiple followers of mine who I'm so sorry i forgot who you were. if you're reading this absolutely insane ear and almost miraculous talent to me.
very likely distorted beyond readability and playability in the process but nonetheless from this:

Like. It is difficult to express how much I know and care about cats.
I had a cat fancy subscription from the ages of 11 to 15 because I was obsessed with cats. I had every book on cat behavior that I could find in my library. I tried to get my teachers to call me Alli Cat. When my girl scout troop was assisting younger troops at camporee, the troop leader had us name ourselves "[Herb Name] Bear" - like "cinnamon bear" or "tarragon Bear" and I asked if I could be cat bear and if i could put a cat on the teddy bear tee shirts we were making and she said no so I got out an encyclopedia and found out that catnip was sometimes called cat mint so i called myself Catmint bear and put a cat head in the tree on the shirt design and claimed it was a bird's nest. My girl scout silver award project was collecting donations of food and money for an animal rescue to help cats.
You know how there are horse girls? I was that but with cats. I had eleven cats at one point. I *adore* cats. In the eight grade class people voted me "most likely to become a crazy cat lady."
So when people come at me with "oh but it's cruel to keep a cat inside, you can't do that and keep them mentally healthy" or "it's natural to let cats roam, they aren't doing any harm and it's perfectly safe" they are not only getting into a "discussion" with a pathologically argumentative research junkie, they are doing so with a pathologically argumentative research junkie who has been terminally annoying about cat behavior and welfare SINCE I WAS A TWEEN IN THE NINETIES.
so you can see, perhaps, why this feral cat situation drives me, specifically, insane, and why I'm utterly incapable of being normal about this.

Oh wow "Wish You Were Here" really does fit well with P2 Artemy's whole storyline, especially regarding the reference to his time in the war (and perhaps the "cage" being the role in the game he's now trapped in).
I totally see how "Breathe" and "Time" fit with Victor Kain, at least going by Classic's version of him since I haven't gotten to interact with him too much in my last playthrough of 2.
Also wasn't the Polyhedron literally ten years old by the time the story of Pathologic starts? That would add an extra layer to connecting the song with Victor. Tens years after his family's greatest accomplishment and he still feels lost in purpose and disconnected from everyone around, growing older and unable to stop the dreaded flow of time from weakening him further and further...
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond" in all its parts could definitely be a Simon Kain track for sure, and you shouldn't ignore the lyrics of Parts VI-XI either in that regard!
Tumblr media
That "Nobody knows where you are" and "Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there" lines REALLY reads as Simon's ghost haunting the remaining Kains to me, especially poignant in Georgiy's case since Simon possesses him near the end of the game.
Also due to it being a song about inner genius and boundless ambition stifled by mental illness and drug abuse I could also see it as being a Peter Stamatin song, which would be particularly sad if you wish to view Andrey as the narrator of the song... T_T
WHO will discuss the victor kain pink floyd correlation with me :/

I Love Pathologic NPCs so much I'm replaying p2 and writing down different names and random lore
Recently a friend and I made our own pathologic OCS, and I made mine have a connection with one of the kin woman NPCs, which in turn made me interested in all the p2 npcs
I'm only on day 5 of my replay, and i'm aware some of this is probably on the wiki, but here are some random bits of lore and info anyway
NAMES:
Some names of kids that are part of the Soul-and-Halves names: Dandy, Catnip, Ace, Ginger, Snout Smokey and Scout
Some names of the Dogheads: Lika, Chara, Maera
Names of other kids: Siskin, Finch, Uta, Swift, Chickadee, Teensy, Wench, Barb, Pup, Goldfinch, Hatchling, Verochka, Basya
Women's names: Kayura, Aigul, Khetey, Dove, Urmaan, Agnia, Starling
Men's names: Shiner, Piecework, Whistler, Kestrel, Ouzel, Crow, Lefty, Stump, Pochard, Pigeon
Dandy is the kid who trades you sharp things at Notkin's hideout. He also trades the infection maps which he and some others make by scouting the infected districts in hopes it will be useful to Artemy. He specifically sits outside the hideout some days to avoid infecting others inside. He thanks you when you come see a sick Notkin.
Catnip gives you bread and milk on day one if you accept it. You can also go back the next day with a piece of bread to thank her for it. Ginger is another girl waiting outside Rubin's house to notify you about Lika's trial.
Ace is the boy waiting outside of Rubin's house on day 1 whose mission is to notify you about the death of their dogs (Alma, Duke and Wokfling). He can also be found a couple days later on The Cape when you start playing The Kids Game. He tells you not to wake up Nina and also invites you to the Nutshell.
Smokey is the boy who gets surrounded by some Dogheads in one of the stairs to heaven. When you ask him if he needs help he says that he's fine, just admiring the view, and very clearly doesn't want adults to intrude in their business and show up in their places. One of the Dogheads waiting for him to come down is called Chara.
Lika is of course the Doghead you see at the start of the game who gives you a tourniquet but later doesn't show up at the town hall to clear your name. And the Doghead trading a schmowder at the Nutshell is Maera.
Finch is random kid with dialogue, so I'm not sure if it's always him saying this, but he asks Artemy if he saw any trains coming, and later mentions how Uta traded all her buttons for just some sugar, which is outrageous.
You then can find Uta later on! specifically during Capella's piano quest. On the second house you go to Uta is playing the piano, and in her conversation she's just shouting at you to go away and threatens to scream if you get closer. Specifically doesn't say "fuck off" because her mom told her not to but she says a couple of "flick off" and "eff off"
Teensy is a little girl who says she still thinks you're good and nice. And Wench is the little girl playing with the bones and scaring boys away. Basya is a little boy who gets surrounded by other kids because his father is a "bad man" (called Whitebeard), and one of those kids is a girl called Barb.
Hatchling is one of the boys staring at Isidor's infected house, and who says Isidor was helpful when Verochka had shingles last year. I haven't actually found anyone called Verochka around the town
There are some kin women like Kayura, who tells you about the Shabnak and says she doesn't believe people kill other people in this town. There's also Aigul and Khetey, who can be found at Aspity's house.
Other women are Dove, whose children are in the tower and won't come back and doesn't personally believe in Shabnaks. Agnia, who is spending her day outside the Judge's door to check which men come asking if killing at night is legal so she can keep herself safe. And there's also Starling who is particularly worried about the people trying to burn off the plague in the streets.
There's of course Piecework, the man Grief asks you to do surgery on. The reason he got injured is because he and Shiner attacked a woman of the Kin. Piecework managed to kill her and the others fought back. They clearly have no medical knowledge.
Kestrel is one of the men trying to stop the mob justice on day one. Stump is the first person you see playing the piano during capella's quest, he's from the Cannery. Pochard is a kin man who says they've lost faith in Artemy and have decided to fight back. And finally Pigeon is complaining on the street about the Kin revolting with no reason.
AND FOR NOW THAT'S ALL I'VE GOT (kinda) if anyone has more small details like these PLEASE add them. can be from pathologic classic too! There's so many good classic npcs like Willow or the Harpist

New pathologic warrior cat stuff compilation
Tumblr media
Simon Kain and Isidor Burakh. Wonder if that guy lived so long cause he had... nine lives...
Tumblr media
The Stamatins. Their names are really hard. I'm thinking like something to do with lizards and then it's -eye and -claw suffixes. Both of them being Lizard____ is kind of like unheard of. Like naming both your kids the same thing. Cats can't make an alcoholic beverage so I guess they'd just chew the herbs and get high which would be the substance Peter abuses. Peter of course has to keep his iconic greasy hair so I thought he would keep the psychodelic catnip in his fur always available for consumption. They have a shared leg scar from a certain shared experience of killing a certain guy
Tumblr media
Nara/Herb bride concept. Warrior cats don't have the word "bride" or "wife" they just say mate. So herb mates I guess. I thought worms would be completely bald small cats with snub noses. So herb brides only keep the nose and the partial baldness on their feet which is kind of like being shoeless. The more experienced they get the balder they become. Their names would end in -dancer and for Nara I think it would be Willowdancer cause her whole story resembles p1 Willow's
Tumblr media
Oyun concept. Has a chimera pattern because Artemy's looking for a minotaur. a half guy half bull. a chimera if you will. here it is. Extremely big cat so he gets to wear a whole ass bull skull. His name is Bullface

What would they think about each other’s love interests (if they romanced someone of course)
Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition?
What is the biggest similarity between your protagonists?
4) What would they think about each other’s love interests (if they romanced someone of course)
For the most part, I think that all of my OCs and their LI's would get on well in a group! Individually:
Daren would lay eyes on Merrill and immediately die for her (tiny autistic elf mage is like ... his personal catnip), he'd love Harding (a nice refreshing chat with a sensible Ferelden at last), and he and Bull have ... a lot in common. Like ... a lot. (*cough cough*). He is also the most extroverted and conversant of the group by a pretty wide margin TBH. Very big "friend who wants to meet everyone's boyfriend" energy.
Gil and Zevran did meet, as did Gil and Leliana, and she liked them both though in a polite friend-of-a-friend kind of way. She meets Harding briefly in Skyhold and REALLY likes her, but Bull makes her ... very uncomfortable. However, if she stuck around long enough to get to know more than his mask, she would really enjoy his company.
Hallapan thinks that Leliana is nice, but weird ... honestly she might have tried to rekindle something between her and Daren, if either had been interested, just to give her something to obsess over aside from the Chantry. If she ever met Zevran, the world might literally explode, because they would be instant besties and probably banging within 6 hours. She would think that Merrill was freaky at first, but the second she started talking about Lost Knowledge, Hallapan's eyes would go just as wide as Merrill's and they would be off and RUNNING. Canonically she does know Harding, loves her, loves how Magnus turns into a doe-eyed sap everytime he sees her, number 1 shipper.
Magnus would find Zevran incredibly off-putting from the word go: he's a very direct person, but if he could antagonize his way past Zev's deflection tactics, they could get to a place of mutual respect. Zevran would also be the only person who would say to his face that he wants to bang the Commander so bad it makes him look stupid(er) and honestly, he needs to hear it. He already believes that Leliana is legitimately insane, though ... easy to talk to, but Merrill he would be genuinely afraid of. With Bull he is openly antagonistic and suspicious of him until after Demands of the Qun (his one and only moment of insight was seeing through Bull's shit from Day 1) especially because he sees how Hallapan looks at him. Big "hurt her and I'll bury you or die trying" energy which ... honestly ... Bull respects the fuck out of.
5) Would your warden or Hawke have actually accepted the role of inquisitor if Cassandra had located them as she’d planned to? Would they have been a good leader for the Inquisition?
So, my Wardenquisitor AU says that Daren would do a decent job over all (though the greater powers of Thedas might disagree because he makes a decent number of allies, but pisses off a lot of traditional power holders at the same time). If it was King-Consort Daren, he absolutely would not have accepted for the same reason that canonically (to me) Cassandra didn't ask: too much unilateral authority. Balancing being a Warden and a monarch is hard enough and he would never take a position that would jeopardize his Queen and country. Gil ... might have accepted if Cass and Leliana had been able to find her, because she is crushingly guilty about Anders and feels a (Carver would say, pathological) need to help people who no one else is looking out for. A chance to try and fix what she viewed as her greatest failures ... yeah, she'd have tried ... and it would have crushed her. Shouldering Kirkwall was suicidal enough, but holding up the sky ... ?
18) What is the biggest similarity between your protagonists?
Answering this one on another ask (bc this one is already huge jfc)

12/10/23 update
with my biochem master's thesis all submitted, I'm waiting for the corrections coming in several months (so I wont graduate for a year :0 )
I'm working full-time as a lab tech, I'm learning a lot and I like my job because every day is different. It feels good to have a paycheck again instead of feeling like a broke master's student 💀
I have more time, energy and less stress working full-time compared to during my master's degree
I'm starting to reintroduce hobbies again! Been sewing some catnip cat toys for my cats and a little french study. I want to slowly reintroduce language learning to my schedule and regularly practice piano and guitar again
I'm trying to read before bed again cos I miss it! I'm on 16/18 books on the GoodReads reading challenge for 2023 so I wanna finish at least two of my half-finished books lol
I really wanna do more biology, I'm thinking about doing a pathology or medical terminology online course (good for career prospects too if I wanna be a medical lab assistant one day)
I don't think I will do a PhD cos ugh going back to that constant postgrad stress and those toxic academia vibes feels bad

hi hello i have a bachelors in speech-language pathology and may possibly be able to assist here
so! first things first, you've got the base idea down. glottal stops (or glottal plosives, or this funky guy in IPA /ʔ/, whichever suits your fancy) are frequently used as a substitute for other sounds in english and they show up in other languages and dialects to varying degrees as well. a glottal stop is basically just your vocal folds opening and closing without vibrating. it's just a quick cut off of your air during speech production. words where you see this happen frequently (to the point of it being considered normal or expected in the general american dialect) include "kitten," "mountain," and "dayton," where the /t/ (tuh, basically) is followed by /n/ (i don't know how to simplify that one. nnnn? i guess??). instead of being released at the alveolar level (that hard ridge right before your upper teeth), the /t/ sound is released at the level of your vocal folds (cords, whatever. it's in your throat). there's also some funky stuff that happens to the /n/ and the syllables with these words but that's not necessarily relevant.
other places we see glottal stops:
between vowels in a single word like in hawai'i (the apostrophe being where the stop occurs)
between vowels in two separate words such as "he eats" (IPA: /hiʔits/)
syllable final /t/, which is what we're discussing here. this varies by dialect and is not considered normal by the standards of general american. examples include "catnip" /kæʔnɪp/, "atlanta" /æʔlænə/, and "hat" /hæʔ/
then we have the tap! the alveolar tap is a fun combination of /t/ and /d/ ("plato"/"play dough" are both /pleɪɾoʊ/, the /ɾ/ being the tap) which may be responsible for the "secret d" OP described, though i couldn't tell you for sure. based on description alone and saying "wuhdn't" and "huddle" to myself over and over trying to compare, i think that's what it is? but the book i have unfortunately doesn't go as in-depth on dialectal differences as i wish it did.
(side note: seeing "wuhdn't" get confused for "wouldn't" dealt me psychic damage as the sound responsible for the kinda sorta "uh" sound in "wouldn't" is my Worst Enemy. fuck /ʊ/ all my homies hate /ʊ/. i can only identify it like 75% of the time.)
when people write out southern U.S. accents phoenetically they always want to say "ain't" so bad. yet they ignore everything "idn't" has done for us
